This is a template for the writer workflow. At the start of each new project (book), customize with the project specifics. This is a complete end-to-end workflow, covering everything involved from idea inception to final finished (published) product.

Keep this workflow current and up-to-date by editing as necessary, add/remove relevant items, change where necessary.

• [ ] [Plotting] Write Title, Blurb, and Tagline: Decide on title, write the first draft of the blurb and tagline.
• [ ] [Plotting] Create Main Characters: Write Character Description/Bio, Physiology, Sociology, Psychology, Goals, and Journal (in characters own words/voice). Do this for the main characters of the story (hero and villain and other main characters). Side characters may not need to be as detailed as the main characters.
• [ ] [Plotting] Write Step Sheet (Outline): Plot novel in detail using step sheet, using movements.
• [ ] [Writing] Create Initial Commit for novel in new branch in private GitHub repo.
• [ ] [Writing] Schedule daily writing sprints until complete: Schedule daily writing sprints (1k words per sprint). Aim to increase daily word output (Kaizen). Track daily completed word count.
• [ ] [Writing] Add front and back matter: Add TOC, Dedication, Authors Note and Copyright page (templates in Vellum)
• [ ] [Writing] Editing: Fix syntax and grammatical errors. Also fix any obvious plot issues or problems.
• [ ] [Writing] Send to Early Access Readers for review and feedback.
• [ ] [Writing] Complete manuscript: Finish all editing tasks and updates to manuscript text. Ensure hyperlinks are correct and working.
• [ ] [Writing] Formatting: Format interior of book (flourishes, look & feel, etc.) using Vellum.
• [ ] [Pre-Launch] Cover Art: Get cover art for ebook
• [ ] [Pre-Launch] Compile: Compile ebook (epub, pdf, mobi) using Vellum and save compiled version in GitHub.
• [ ] [Pre-Launch] Share cover & tagline: Post cover with tagline and release date to social media (Twitter, Instagram) and to mailing list.
• [ ] [Pre-Launch] Update author website: Update website with ebook cover, blurb and release date.
• [ ] [Pre-Launch] Begin tracking financials: Add entry (new worksheet) in financial tracking spreadsheet (this will be used to track total expenditures and income for this project).
• [ ] [Launch] Upload to KDP: Upload to KDP and set pricing. Enroll in KDP Select and make book free (or 99c) for first 48 hours.
• [ ] [Launch] Create book in Goodreads: Create page for book on Goodreads.
